Thai

The Thai food scene has been ever growing in our area and more so in Charlotte. From classic, original dishes to creative, spicy plates there is a need for all and we are down with it! We have selected 5 spots we go when we are craving Thai all are bringing fresh ingredients and really making the traditional flavors pop.

No.1 | Thai Taste • Matthews or Dilworth

This is truly one of the locals most coveted Thai spots since 1988. Everything is authentic and flavorful! The nice thing is you decide how much heat you would like your dish to have. The system is based on numbers - No.1 being the mildest of all and then escalating to No. 5 being the most hear. So, let's talk their lunch specials...it changes daily, so take a look online to see if there is something you enjoy for the day. Here is how it works: you select your protein (or no protein) and then you select your dish. All dishes are accompanied with spring rolls, soup and drink if you are dining in, but if you happen to get it to go you will receive spring rolls and jasmine rice.

No.2 | Thai Orchard • Strawberry Hill

So, a friend of ours invited us to join her to dine at Thai Orchard. She has been a regular for years and helped us order some the best dishes. She did not steer us wrong! The food was fantastic, and one dish didn't stand out more than the rest, they were all good! If you are a little nervous on how to pronouns the dishes, Thai Orchard is making it easy with order by number. We start with the spring rolls and then either the Kreung Keang Seafood or Shrimp Curry. If you are not as comfortable with Thai dishes and would like to easy in, try the Pineapple Fried Rice or Pad Thai. Devour your meal surrounded by the brightly colored decor with playful patterns, the most beautiful displays of Thai culture and comfortable seating.

No.3 | Basil Thai • Stonecrest or Uptown

Basil Thai offers a contemporary spin on classic Thai dishes and flavors. While many will know there is a little bit of an Americanized touch to some of the menu, it is still incredibly delicious. We're big fans of the Thai Coffee! If you happen to visit the Stonecrest location and the weather is good, we suggest eating out on the patio.

While this family-owned bistro is tucked away a little bit in Blakeney, it has a cozy feel and the service is always the best. They are great about giving you recommendations and always putting a personal touch on things. If you aren't feeling like dining in, definitely try them for takeout.
